Shakti Foundation, New Delhi is a Non-profit organization established and registered in 2014, which supports working women by providing day care through its Crèche for the children of migrant construction workers, domestic helps and others in the low income group from different parts of Neb Sarai and Maidan Garhi villages in New Delhi.

The Crèche creates a safe haven for these children under the supervision of trained teachers and crèche workers. An integrated day care program caters to the educational, nutritional, health, recreational and emotional needs of children from 2 to 6 years of age. We also attempt to preclude child labour, child abuse and child delinquency from the lives of these underprivileged families. The centre is near the dwelling places of these families. At present Shakti Foundation Crèche is running one centre, catering to the needs of about 100 children on a daily basis with donations and contribution from a few individuals.

Under the prevailing economic conditions it has become imperative that two incomes are required for basic family sustenance.

Shakti’s need and search for a bigger place still continues, an indication for a need of Shakti’s services may be accessed from the fact that even with the migration of a large number of children to two new Nursery facilities opened up in its proximity the number of children still availing the services of Shakti Creche has grown considerably with daily request for new admission.
